Adult Learn-to-Row

ADULT LEARN-TO-ROW

Rowing is a great sport at any age, and at any skill level. Nereid offers two main paths to learning how to row: private lessons, and Learn-to-Row programs. Nereid Membership is NOT required for either of these options.

Upon completion of five one-hour private lessons or a Learn-to-Row program, a participant can either join the club and become a full member or they can take additional private lessons. Our coaches will work with participants to determine the next best step given the progress made.

Private Lessons

In a private lesson, you will receive personalized instruction from one of our experienced coaches. Each lesson is an hour long and can be scheduled at your convenience. Lessons cost $55 per lesson or $225 for a package of five lessons. Group lessons are also available. For more information on group lessons please email our Programs Director, Sarah Kornblum, at programs@nereidbc.org.

In order to register for private lessons, rowers must:

  • print and sign a USRowing waiver (click here);
  • pay by check (made payable to Nereid Boat Club), cash, or via online using the registration widget below.

Please mail the completed USRowing waiver and payment to P.O. Box 1678, Rutherford, NJ 07070, or email the waiver (PDF) to programs@nereidbc.org. To schedule your private lessons, or if you have any further questions, please contact our programs director at programs@nereidbc.org.

Learn-to-Row Programs

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Nereid’s Learn-to-Row programs are perfect for anyone who is interested in rowing for the first time in a group setting. These programs introduce participants to the sport and prepare to become full Nereid members. You will receive hands-on coaching, video sessions, and learn the basics of rowing equipment and terminology.

These programs typically meet on the weekends during the late Spring, Summer, and early Fall. However, the schedule for Nereid’s upcoming Learn-to-Row programs is not yet finalized. Please check back periodically for updates!

*A Learn to row program will only be run if enough rowers register for it. Therefore, advanced registration is required. No walk-ins.*
