Annual Membership Dinner |

Annual Membership Dinner
The Annual Dinner has been scheduled for December 9 at the boathouse and
promises to be a blast! Dan and Briant, Nereid's club chefs, have
promised to do even better than last year, when we had a roast pig, among
other delicacies.
Everyone should have received an Evite. Please rsvp by 12/1 so we know
how many members to expect. The cost will be the same as last year, $35
per person, to be paid at the door.

Nereid reviewing its bylaws
The bylaws committee - Phil Gartenberg, Bob Hoguet, and John van der Tuin
- has started work on a new set of bylaws for the club. The immediate
reason is that a bylaws change is needed to move the club to 501(c)(3)
nonprofit status, which would allow tax-deductible donations. Next year,
the club will have to raise substantial funds to support bulkhead
construction.
Rather than only adding the sections needed for nonprofit status, the
trustees have decided to review all the bylaws. Many are overly detailed
or specify policies that we no longer use. The goal for the committee is
to propose new bylaws by early next year. The new bylaws will be
circulated for comment among the club members before coming to a formal
vote by the membership.

Lost oar
One of my sculling oars has mysteriously disappeared. The oar is a
Concept 2 with the initials "SOS" and a piece of red tape around it. The
last time I used my oars was at the Head of the Passaic.

Saturday morning open row
On Saturday mornings at 9 AM, Nereid hosts an open row at the club. We
will put crews together with anyone who shows up. Afterwards, there'll be
breakfast at the boathouse.

Nereid Masters Yahoo group
We have created a Yahoo group where Nereid members can post questions to
other members, post photos and classified ads, organize for regattas, find
others to row with, etc. To register, send a blank email to
nereidmasters-subscribe@yahoogroups.com or email
nereidpres@hotmail.com. The group currently has 22 members.

is interesting to other Nereids, please send a few sentences to Alice
Matthews at
nereidsec@hotmail.com. The deadline for submission is Thursday
night. Your contribution will be highly appreciated.
