Head of the Passaic Regatta, Sunday, October 15  

This year's HOPR will be the 6th edition of the race.  We are very excited to announce that entries are running well above plan.  Nereid will host high school crews from as far away as upstate New York and eastern Connecticut.  The Borough of Rutherford, Boiling Springs Bank, and Wilentz will be the main event sponsors.

We still have open volunteer spots for the regatta.  Please email regatta@hopr.org if you have not yet volunteered. 

There will be a volunteer meeting at 8 AM on Sunday.  Coffee and bagels will be available.  Thanks for your help and see you all on Sunday!

Volunteers needed for Nereid's Adopt-A-Highway cleanup

The section of Route 21 that Nereid has adopted, right across from the boathouse, is due for a cleanup.  We will need about 10 volunteers for about an hour and a half, after the Open Row at 11 AM on Saturday, October 21.

Annual Membership Dinner, December 2

Last year's Membership Dinner was such a great success, it's hard to believe that this year's will be even better.  Remember roasting a whole pig in the snow?  Dan and Briant will be organizing the dinner again this year on December 2.  They are planning a Turkish and Eastern Mediterranean extravaganza, including a roast lamb!  Please mark you calendars!

Saturday morning open row

On Saturday mornings at 9 AM, Nereid hosts an open row at the club.  We will put crews together with anyone who shows up.  Afterwards, there'll be breakfast at the boathouse.

Nereid Masters Yahoo group
We have created a Yahoo group where Nereid members can post questions to other members, post photos and classified ads, organize for regattas, find others to row with, etc.  To register, send a blank email to nereidmasters-subscribe@yahoogroups.com or email nereidpres@hotmail.com.  The group currently has 20 members.

Nereid News is published weekly on Fridays.  If you have a news item that is interesting to other Nereids, please send a few sentences to Alice Matthews at nereidsec@hotmail.com.  The deadline for submission is Thursday night.  Your contribution will be highly appreciated.
