==================
No rowing until next week
The Passaic River is still well above flood stage and will remain so until
early next week. Conditions on the river are very dangerous due to the
very strong current and large pieces of debris in the water. Therefore,
the Directors have not yet removed the emergency rowing restrictions at
Nereid.
We will reassess the situation daily. When we consider the river safe for
rowing, we will make an announcement.
The condition of the Passaic can be seen
here.

Boathouse cleanup party this Saturday!
The Passaic has left a lot of mud in the boathouse and on the property.
Several boats were damaged and will need to be sent out for repair. When
the river returns to normal levels we will be able to determine if the
bulkhead needs emergency repair.
This Saturday 4/21 starting at 9 AM there will be a cleanup work party at
the boathouse. We will need many volunteers. Jobs to do include cleaning
the floors in the boathouse, cleaning the walls, towing the floating dock
sections back to their original location, making an inventory of all
damage and missing items from the house, etc. Your help is much
appreciated! Please bring cleaning supplies such as mops, brooms, and
buckets.
The weather looks great for Saturday so it should be a nice day. After the
cleanup, we'll have a party in the boathouse. You're welcome to bring
potluck food items.

Preliminary results from Nereid merchandise survey
So far we have had 22 responses to the Nereid merchandise survey. The top
choice for a new Nereid merchandise item is the short-sleeved T-shirt,
with 14 votes, followed by the long-sleeved T-shirt (10), sleeveless
fleece and long-sleeved fleece (7 each). Following up on the poll results,
we have started work on a design for a new Nereid short-sleeved T-shirt.
If you haven't voted yet, the survey is still open! Please take a minute
to respond. Access it
here.
Only 2 questions! Thank you for your suggestions.
==================
Club dues and fees must be in by April 25
The deadline for receipt of the 2007 club dues, storage fees, and locker
fees is April 25. If we haven't received your membership form and payment
by then, you will not be considered an active member. This means that you
will not have rowing privileges.
Please remember to return with your payment:
- a signed 2007 liability waiver
- a signed boat storage agreement, if you are storing your boat(s) at
Nereid

Committee Spotlight: Membership
The Membership Committee is a standing committee currently headed by Phil
Gartenberg. According to the bylaws,
All candidates for Membership shall be approved by a Membership
Committee established by the Board of Directors based upon such written
application, personal interview, rowing skills or other procedure as the
Committee shall adopt.
The committee maintains the member database, recruits new members, e.g.
through events such as the open house and National Learn to Row Day, and
welcomes new members to the club. Other duties include designing and
marketing Nereid merchandise and producing promotional brochures and
fliers for the club.
If you are interested in joining the Membership Committee, please contact
Phil at nereidjoin@hotmail.com.
