Director and Officer election results
At the Annual General Membership meeting on Saturday the nominated
slate of Directors was unanimously elected. Nereid’s Board
of Directors is now constituted as follows:
Elected to new 3-year terms: Dave Dowd, Bob Hoguet, Peter Willcox.
Terms ending in 2010: Marc de Mul, Phil Gartenberg, Claire Vandertuin.
Terms ending in 2009: Maureen Abbey, George Freimarck, Frank Schaefer.
Following the meeting, a special Board of Directors meeting was held in
which the new Officer board was elected. The new club officers
are:
President George Freimarck
Vice President Marc de Mul
Secretary Peter Willcox
Treasurer Maureen Abbey
Good luck to the newly elected Directors and Officers.

Singles rowing now allowed
The President in consultation with the Captain and the Board of
Directors has decided that singles rowing is now allowed.
However, please take notice of the winter weather rowing rules below.

Important notice about Winter Weather Rowing
Nereid's Board of Directors, in the interest of the safety and
wellbeing of the members, and the club, asks all rowers to take note of
following winter weather instructions:
Do not row unaccompanied, either by motor launch or other crew boat, in
weather of 45 °F or less, or water temperature 45 °F or less.
There are clearly visible thermometers on the boathouse (south bay
door) and on the dock for submersion in water. This rule shall be
subject to the direction of the Captain.
The Board reminds rowers that failure to adhere to these instructions
can result in sanctions, up to and including suspension of membership
privileges.

Nereid Triathlon Results
Nereid's 2nd Annual Triathlon was held on Saturday, March 1st and was a
big success. About 15 members took part. Thanks to everyone
who competed or participated as volunteers.
The Triathlon events included a 6k erg, 2 mile run and 24 sets of stadium stairs at nearby Tryon Park.
Congratulations to Connie Kaldewei and Adrian Mino de Rivera who were
the overall female and male winners. Their grand prizes were a
Concept2 erg card and a box of Girl Scout cookies. Well done
guys!!!
Individual event winners were:
6k Erg:
female: Connie Kaldewei with a time of 25:18.8, split of 2:06.5
male: Adrian Mino de Rivera 21:36.0, split of 1:48.0
Prizes were a Concept 2 Erg logbook and a box of Girl Scout cookies
2 Mile Run:
female: Erin Martin with a combined time of 15:13
male: David Wolf: 13:35
Prizes were a box of Girl Scout cookies
24 sets of Stadium Stairs:
female: tie between Connie Kaldwei and Erin Martin
male: Adrian Mino de Rivera
Prizes were a box of Girl Scout cookies
This was a great winter training motivator and will become a Nereid tradition. Expect our 3rd Triathlon in March 2009.
