First draft of new Nereid bylaws completed

The bylaws review committee (Bob Hoguet, John van der Tuin, Phil Gartenberg) has worked diligently over the winter to develop a new set of bylaws for the club. Nereid needs new bylaws to streamline its governance structure, eliminate obsolete procedures, and become eligible for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, which allows tax-deductible donations.

We are currently discussing the second draft of the bylaws which incorporates the officers' and trustees' suggestions. On February 10 at 11 AM there will be a meeting at the boathouse where club members can ask questions and suggest changes. The purpose of that meeting is to make sure all members have the opportunity to give input into the new bylaws. We will circulate the draft bylaws before that meeting.

The Annual General Membership Meeting will take place on Saturday, March 3rd. At the meeting we plan to bring the bylaws revision to a vote - please plan to attend as we need a quorum of members to validate the vote.

Winter training and erging program

We delivered 2 new Model D ergs to the boathouse last Saturday. Unfortunately, one of them arrived with a broken monitor arm, which was damaged in shipment. A new part has already been ordered, and this erg will be set up this Saturday.
