Board appoints new
Director
The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Maureen Abbey has
joined as a Director. She will serve for the remainder of the
2-year term ending in 2009 that was formerly held by Chris
Doyle. She will assist Leigh in her role as
Treasurer. The board is pleased to welcome her and believes
her rowing and professional credentials will help her serve our club in
the coming years.
A short bio: Mo learned to row in college at Johns Hopkins University
and also rowed for Fairmount Rowing Club on Boathouse Row in
Philadelphia and coached for several Philly high school teams,
including her own Mount Saint Joseph Academy. Rowing the
father/daughter Mixed 2x , she won the King’s Head in 1996
and 1997. Mo bowed the Women’s Masters 8+ at the
Charles this year, helping that crew earn a respectable 11th place
finish which guarantees Nereid an entry next year. Mo is an
attorney who just passed the patent bar and works for the law firm of
Ward & Olivo.

Dock Removal Party,
Saturday January 12
This Saturday we plan to pull the docks out of the river and store them
for the winter. The heavy lifting will be done by Erik
King’s crew and backhoe, but we will still need about 8
strong volunteers, starting at about 8 AM. We will also need
many volunteers to de-rig club boats and store them in the house.
If you are available, we would appreciate it if you would
volunteer. Pancakes and coffee will be available!

Join Team Nereid in
the Concept2 January Virtual Team Challenge
Once again I have activated Team Nereid on www.concept2.com so that
members can log their miles for winter training. Any miles
logged during January also automatically go towards the January Team
Challenge, which may get you some prizes and lets us do some friendly
competition against PRRA!
If you already joined Team Nereid last year, then you are already set
up and only need to log your miles to participate.
If you need to join the team:
1. Follow the instructions on the Concept2 website to set up
your profile: http://www.concept2.com/sranking03/log_start.asp?
2. Email me your name and e-mail address EXACTLY AS THEY
APPEAR in your Concept2 online profile - I have to add you to the team.
Thanks,
Marc Monplaisir

Adult Winter
Training schedule
Winter training has started and both Saturday morning classes are close
to capacity. If you missed the first two sessions but would
still like to join, please contact Dave Dowd. Boris coaches
and the fee is $75 for 12 sessions.
The adults training sessions are scheduled as follows:
Sat & Sun 8 – 9 AM
Sat & Sun 9:30 – 10:30 AM
Two weeknight high school erging programs have also started:
Mon, Wed and Fri 4:00 - 5:30 PM (Boris
with Juniors/Ridgewood)
Mon, Tue and Fri 6:30 - 8:30 PM
(Sean and John with Don Bosco)
All ergs are reserved for the training classes at those
times. Please plan your workout schedule at times when ergs
are not used by classes.
==================
Winter housekeeping
reminder
- Please do not turn off the heat in the boathouse, but set it at 50
ºF when you are the last to leave the club. This avoids
problems with frozen water pipes.
- Keep the garage doors closed as much as possible to keep heat in the
house.
- Never open the emergency exit door except in case of an emergency.
Thank you for your help.
