Join the fun—learn to row at Nereid

Rowing is a great sport at any age, and at any skill level. Nereid offers Adult and Youth Private Lessons. Nereid Membership is NOT required for Private Lessons.


For Adults

Get Fit This New Year!

Start the New Year off right with Nereid's 6-week indoor rowing fitness program. This group program will be run by Nereid's skilled coaches, and each session will begin with a brief technical warm up followed by an intensive full body workout and a thorough stretch. This program is aimed at improving fitness and flexibility while having a great time! Sessions will run from 9:30 - 11 AM on Saturdays and Sundays starting on January 5th and ending on February 10th. NO EXPERIENCE OR PRIOR MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED! Questions can be emailed to our Programs Director, Sarah Kornblum, at programs@nereidbc.org. Click here to register.

Private Lessons

Nereid’s adult private lessons are designed so that a beginner can progress to membership and full participation in the club. 

A non-member may a sign up for five one-hour private lessons at a total cost of $225. Private lessons, conducted by one of our coaches; offer flexibility with dates, times and time of year. You may start whenever safe water conditions allow, normally between April and November. 

Upon completion of the five one-hour private lessons, a participant will have the following options:

  • Join the club
  • Take up to five additional private lessons at $55 per individual one-hour session (or sign up for the series of five one-hour private lessons at a total cost of $225). Upon completion of ten private lessons, a participant must become a member before taking additional private lessons.

Our coaches work with participants to determine the next best step given the progress made.

For Youth

Pre-Spring Indoor Learn-to-Row*

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Our Pre-Spring Learn-to-Row programs are perfect for youth athletes who are interested in rowing for the first time during the spring and are looking to get a jumpstart on things. These programs are indoors and focus on teaching athletes proper rowing technique on an indoor rowing machine. Athletes will receive hands-on coaching, video sessions, and learn the basics of rowing equipment and terminology. These programs will meet on the weekends listed below, from 5:30 - 7 PM on Fridays and 1:30 - 3 PM on Saturdays and Sundays: 

  • Friday, February 1st - Sunday, February 3rd
  • Friday, February 8th - Sunday, February 10th
  • Friday, February 15th - Sunday, February 17th
  • Friday, February 22nd - Sunday, February 24th
You can sign up for as many weekend's as you like! The fee structure for these programs is as follows:
  • One Weekend: $150
  • Two Weekends: $275
  • Three Weekends: $375
  • All Four Weekends: $450
If you have to miss a day for any of the weekends that you sign up for, then you are welcome to make up that day on another weekend! However, you must give us notice about any missed days and make-up days in advance.

A signed USRowing waiver (click here) will also be required on your first day. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions!

 

*A Learn to row program will only be run if enough rowers register for it. Therefore, advanced registration is required. No walk-ins. 

Private Lessons

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Five private lessons are required for anyone who is interested in joining Nereid's Fall, Winter, and/or Spring programs. Private lessons are available at a rate of $55 per hour for single lessons or as a series of five one-hour lessons for a total cost of $225. All payments are to be made to Nereid Boat Club. Times are to be arranged with the coaches.  

In order to register for private lessons, rowers must:

  • download the swim test form (click here) and complete the swim test on their own, prior to their first lesson (youth only); 
  • print and sign a USRowing waiver (click here); 
  • and send a check made payable to Nereid Boat Club or pay online using the form below.
