Collegiate/Open Summer Rowing

Nereid’s Collegiate and Open program for the summer of 2018 is perfect for college rowers who are home for the summer, or in the area for a summer internship, and are looking to stay in shape and develop their small boat and sculling skill. Recent college graduates who are looking to stay in shape and race are also welcome to participate in this summer program.

This program will begin on June 4th and end on August 12th. This program will meet Mondays – Fridays from 5:30 – 7:30 AM, and Saturdays from 6:30 - 8:30 AM. Supplemental workouts will also be given each week for rowers to complete outside of practice times. This program is open to any collegiate or open rower with at least one season of rowing experience. This program is also a sculling-only program, but no prior sculling experience is required. The goals of this program are: to develop small boat and sculling skill, to improve the rowers’ overall physical and technical abilities, and to get all rowers race ready.

Rowers in this program will have the opportunity to race in the Schuylkill Navy Regatta, Independence Day Regatta, Club Nationals, Overpeck Summer Sprints, and Canadian Henley (though racing is not required) at the coaches’ discretion*. If rowers plan to race in any regattas during the summer, then they can miss no more than one week’s worth of practices.

All payments must be submitted by the end of the first week of practice (if this is an issue for you then please contact the coaches). If you cannot commit to the full term of the program then you must communicate this with coaches before the start of the program. Please remember that if you want to race you are only allowed to miss one week’s worth of practices. If you have any further questions then please contact Dylan Gould (

*Rowers participating in regattas are responsible for their own transportation and housing during regattas, and are required to become USRowing members. You will need to pay USRowing the membership fee. The fee is $45. This is a one time annual fee and is not needed if the athlete is already a member.  Join here.
