Adult Seasonal Programs

ADULT SEASONAL PROGRAMS

Nereid supports adult (Masters) rowers with coaching and logistical assistance at regattas. Coaching is designed for both seasoned and new rowers. To participate in a Masters program, Nereid membership and completion of Learn-to-Row lessons or equivalent certification by the Captain or Head Coach is required. For a new rower to have a successful experience, competence in rowing a recreational single is expected.

Summer Masters Programs

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Nereid’s Masters Summer programs for 2020 are going to be structured differently than in past years. We are offering two types of programs for this summer: an on-water, singles-only program and a virtual program.

On-Water

Rowers will be coached on technique and also undergo workouts to improve fitness while rowing in singles. The goal is for each rower to become more proficient in the single scull by the end of the summer, while also leaving our summer program fitter and faster. Due to limited resources this on-water summer program is going to have a lower capacity than usual. As a result, we are going to require rowers to apply for this program and acceptance will be limited based on our available equipment. Rowers will be asked to describe their prior rowing experience and prior experience in a single scull (if any). For safety reasons, acceptance will be based on sculling proficiency. However, this does not mean that rowers with no experience in a single scull should not apply. If we have the space/equipment then we may still accept rowers with no prior experience in a single scull.

This program will run from June 15th – July 31st and will cost $150. Practices will be held Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays from 6:00 – 7:30 AM. In order to apply for this program please fill out the application at the following link: Summer 2020 Masters Program Application. Applications will be due by Thursday, June 11th and applicants will be notified regarding their acceptance by the end of Friday, June 12th. Payment is due by the end of Sunday, June 14th. Instructions regarding payment will be emailed to accepted rowers. Only current Nereid Members will be accepted into this program, and prior rowing experience is required. If you have any questions about Nereid’s programs, please contact our Programs Director, Sarah Kornblum (programs@nereidbc.org) and/or our Head Coach, Dylan Gould (headcoach@nereidbc.org).

Additional information: Rowers will not have access to the boathouse, with the exception of the boat bays for equipment access. Therefore, rowers are not permitted to bring any unnecessary personal items to practice. Personal items should be left in the car or at home. Rowers will also not have access to our locker rooms or bathrooms, however, a port-o-potty will be on-site for athlete use. Rowers will also be required to wear masks at all times except when actively rowing. Rowers must follow all of the rules previously stated as well as all of Nereid’s COVID-19 Protocols, which can be found at the following link: Click Here.

Virtual

Our virtual Masters summer program will be aimed at increasing our participants’ physical fitness and flexibility. We will use Google Meet to hold our virtual practices. Three times a week rowers will be guided through a bodyweight circuit by a coach, followed by a group stretch. This program will begin on June 16th and run through August 1st. This program will be free to current Nereid members and will cost $100 to non-members. Virtual practice will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 – 8:00 AM, and Saturdays from 8:00 – 9:00 AM. To register for this program as a non-member, please use the embedded widget below. Current club members should email our Programs Director and Head Coach in order to register for this program. If you have any questions about Nereid’s programs, please contact our Programs Director, Sarah Kornblum (programs@nereidbc.org) and/or our Head Coach, Dylan Gould (headcoach@nereidbc.org).

*Rutherford Residents receive a 50% discount until participation reaches 25% of the program size, after which the discount is pro-rated across all Rutherford participants. We ask all participants to pay the full program amount, and then we will issue a refund to Rutherford Residents once the final numbers are known. At current participation levels we expect that refund level to be 50%.*
